Orvieto

Orvieto is a beautiful hill town in Umbria. Classic Italian hill town with lots of old churches and buildings.

Umbrian Sunrise and Moonrise

After landing in Roma we were exhausted! We decided to drive to Umbria and stay in a little hill town called Orvieto. These are shots of the Umbrian sunrise and moonrise. Beautiful!

Italy

On the way home from Australia, we had to take 2 stops because we had an around the world ticket. We flew Perth to Thailand (we did not stop off here to visit though) and then Thailand to Italy. We did stay in Italy for a few days. Pictures are forthcoming!

Goodbye to UWA

I figured I had to get at least one shot of UWA before I left both with and without Flat Henry.

Morning Tea and the Team

For my last day, the team had morning tea for me at Matilda Bay and Danielle baked everyone Easter Cupcakes.

John really was there!

For all my friends who did not believe John was there because of the lack of pictures. Here is the two of us on our last day.

The Three D's

Our project was affectionately named the "Three D's" by some of our mums. Danielle, Diane and Donna

My Last Day at Work

Tuesday was my last day at work. I did go into the office to finalize some work and a presentation that Danielle was going to give for us for Medela. Danielle will now have to carry on the project and continue to get more mums.

Shots of the Family

Donna and Gabrielle and Flat Henry and Tim and Gabrielle. Thanks for everything!

Gabrielle and Flat Henry

Gabrielle loved Flat Henry and took her time to show him all around. Gabrielle and Flat Henry also had to show off the beautiful French braids that Diane did for Gabrielle.

Dinner at Donna's

Monday night-our last night- we had dinner at Donna's house and got to meet her husband Tim and very fun daughter, Gabrielle.

Our last sunset.....

We had our last sunset over the Indian Ocean from Cottesloe Beach. It was sad to say goodbye to this beautiful beach and ocean.

Cottesloe Beach-Last Time....

Easter Monday is a public holiday in Australia, so I had the day off work. It felt like a fall day in Sea Isle City. Not a day for sunbathing, but we had a lovely lunch at the Ocean Beach Hotel overlooking the Indian Ocean. We took Flat Henry along for one last goodbye to the Indian Ocean.

Rainbows

On the drive back into Perth on Easter Sunday-the weather continued to be quite stormy but alternately sunny. It made for a nice rainbow

Kangaroos

Easter Sunday was a very wierd weather day. As we arrived at the Pinnacle Desert area a fine misting rain started. There was a long road through the bushland to get to the desert. Because of the rain all the kangaroos were out drinking water from puddles and cracks in the road. Normally at 1130 am they would all be in the bush asleep. So this was a really cool sight to see!

Flat Henry at the Pinnacles

He was there too!

The Pinnacles Desert

On Easter Sunday we drove about 3 hours north of Perth to the Pinnacles Desert. These are limestone formations that have been eroded over the years.

Views from DNA Tower

They have a tower you can climb in King's Park that is shaped like a DNA helix. Here are some views from up top.

John and the tree

This tree is Jarrah wood which used to be called Black Swan Mahogny. It is amazing how big all the trees are and how old. Sadly this one perished

King's Park

On Friday, April 6th I worked some on my data in the morning but John and I wanted to take advantage of some biking during our last few days. These are some views of Perth from King's Park which is right near our apartment.

Diane and Danielle

On Thursday night, John and I took Danielle and her partner, Dean out to dinner to thank her for all her help. We had a lovely dinner at the Wild Fig Cafe that overlooks the Indian Ocean just north of Trigg Beach. We did not have much of a sunset though. At the end of work that day it started to rain quite a bit. Danielle and I joked that Perth was sad to know that I am soon leaving.

Last Day at the Center

Thursday April 5th, 2007 was my last day at the center seeing mums. They have a long weekend for Easter here in Australia with both Friday and Monday as public holidays. I figured I should take at least a couple pictures of the center before I left

Flat Henry at Cottesloe

Tuesday after work I wanted to go to the beach for a swim. So John and I took Flat Henry along. He worked on his tan while I went for my swim.

Flat Henry made a friend!

Flat Henry was excited that I work with babies. Here is one of his new friends and one of the beautiful babies I get to see.

Flat Henry went to work on Tuesday

Tuesday April 3, Flat Henry came to work again. He was interested in helping and learning about my research. He checked out the warming tray and the scale.

A card from home!

On Tuesday when I got home from work we had mail. We got a card from John's family (his mom, Michele, and Matthew II). Thanks!

Flat Henry goes to work

On Monday April 2nd, Flat Henry snuck into my briefcase and snuck this picture of him and Danielle at work!

The Breweries

John's favorite thing about Margaret River was the breweries. Here are two we went tol
